Where do the puzzles come from?
Our starter library uses a quality-filtered subset of Lichess’s public-domain puzzle database. Each puzzle includes its original Lichess link in the answer key. This is an independent project, not affiliated with Lichess.
How do you find mistakes in my games?
Upload a standard PGN export from Lichess, Chess.com, or your chess software. Stockfish runs locally and looks for moves that lose at least 1.5 pawns of evaluation compared with its preferred move. It rechecks candidates at a larger search budget, then turns the earlier position into a review exercise. Bounded analysis can miss mistakes or change its opinion at greater depth.
We never assign a made-up rating to your own positions. Use “Related rated puzzles” to practise broad themes from these positions at a chosen difficulty. Lichess username import fetches your latest ten completed standard games, then detects your colour automatically. Rule-based classifiers suggest forks, undefended captures and mating themes from engine lines; uncertain cases use a broad game-phase fallback. These are training suggestions, not a complete diagnosis.
Does the QR code show the solution?
Rated puzzles open the original interactive Lichess puzzle: play your moves and get feedback. Personal game positions have no Lichess puzzle ID, so their QR opens the analysis board instead. Solutions and explicit analysis links remain on the separate answer sheet. Internet is required to open Lichess, not to solve your printed sheet.
What happens to my games?
Username imports contact Lichess to retrieve public games, with a server relay fallback if a browser cannot fetch them directly. The relay does not retain games; ordinary hosting access logs may include the requested username. PGN files are processed in your browser’s memory. We do not upload or store them. Refreshing clears uploaded games and computed results. Successful public imports are cached in this browser tab and reused for five minutes; closing the tab clears that cache. Scanning a QR shares that position with Lichess, whose own privacy terms apply. Hosting providers may keep ordinary access logs.
